Build An Ant Empire - Pets

Pets come from dungeon bosses and the Pet Exchange and boost your whole colony: more ant luck, faster ants, more food value or a chance to double food.

What are pets?

Pets are companions that boost your whole colony while equipped — more ant luck, faster ants, more food value or a chance to double food. They hatch from pet eggs, which drop in dungeons or are bought with Pet Coins or Robux.

Snail

Earnings boost + 7–9% ant luck
Hatched from a Snail Egg (dropped by King of Snail, 40 Pet Coins at the Pet Exchange or 9 Robux); the egg hatches about five minutes after you place it at home. Its stats grow as it levels: one fresh level 1 snail showed an earnings boost of 12.5 and +7% ant luck, another showed 14.3 and +9%. The boost does not multiply sales 14 times, so the number is most likely a percentage. It can also be ridden like a mount, so it is a way to get a mount without risking an ant.

Mantis

17.5% chance to double food
A rare pet from the Mantis Egg, a luck-based drop from the last dungeon (or 400 Pet Coins at the Pet Exchange, or 69 Robux). Its bonus gives food a 17.5% chance to be doubled, which works on every trip your ants make.

Ladybug

+24.5% to about 51% food value
A golden ladybug pet. It is the reward for a 14-day daily check-in streak, drops as an egg from the King of Ladybug dungeon, and costs 800 Pet Coins at the Pet Exchange if you miss check-in days (the egg is also 129 Robux on the official product list). It raises the value of the food your ants bring back: about +24.5–26.3% when hatched, rising to about 51% after upgrades and 60% at max level. The egg took 10 minutes to hatch.

How pets work

  • Pet Coins come from dungeon runs; the Double Pet Coins game pass doubles them.
  • Pet Exchange sells pet eggs for Pet Coins: Snail Egg 40, Spider Egg 150, Mantis Egg 400 and Ladybug Egg 800 coins.
  • Pet eggs are also sold for Robux on the official product list: Snail Egg 9, Spider Egg 29, Mantis Egg 69 and Ladybug Egg 129.
  • Pet eggs must be placed at your base; they hatch after about 5 minutes (Snail, Spider) to 10 minutes (Ladybug).
  • Pets have Patrol, Stroke and Manage actions in their menu, and you can level them up with cash to raise their bonus.
  • Pets can be equipped (more slots with the +1 Pet Equip pass) and some can be ridden.

How to get pets

Pets come from dungeons. When a banner announces that a dungeon has appeared, enter it and let your colony fight the boss; runs pay Pet Coins and can drop a pet egg. Each boss is tied to its own egg — the Spider Egg from King of Spider, the Snail Egg from King of Snail and so on — and the Mantis Egg is a rare, luck-based drop from the last dungeon.

If the egg you want will not drop, buy it at the Pet Exchange with Pet Coins. Prices there are Snail Egg 40, Spider Egg 150, Mantis Egg 400 and Ladybug Egg 800 coins (or 9, 29, 69 and 129 Robux). The Double Pet Coins game pass doubles the coins you earn.

To hatch an egg, place it at your base. It hatches after about five to ten minutes, and you can open it from the same spot.

What each pet does

Pets give colony-wide bonuses, and the numbers can be large. A Snail pet adds +7–9% ant luck and an earnings boost shown as 12.5–14.4; the boost does not multiply sales 14×, so the number is most likely a percentage. The Ladybug raises food value by about 25% when hatched and around 50–60% once upgraded. The Snail can also be ridden like a mount.

The Spider pet boosts earnings and ant speed once upgraded, and the ants are visibly faster. The Mantis pet gives a 17.5% chance for food to be doubled. The Pet Exchange describes other pet effects such as increased food value and a chance for an ant to collect double food. A golden Ladybug pet is also the reward for a 14-day daily check-in streak.

Equipping pets

Pets work while they are equipped. A new account can equip only a single pet; the +1 Pet Equip game pass adds another slot. Because each pet boosts the whole colony, equip the ones with the biggest earnings or luck bonus first.

Frequently asked questions

How do pets work in Build an Ant Empire?
Pets are equipped helpers that boost your whole colony. You get them from pet eggs: dungeon bosses drop them (King of Spider drops the Spider Egg, King of Snail the Snail Egg, King of Ladybug the Ladybug Egg, and the Mantis Egg is a rare, luck-based drop from the last dungeon), the Pet Exchange sells them for Pet Coins, and the official product list sells them for Robux (Snail 9, Spider 29, Mantis 69, Ladybug 129). Place an egg at your base and it hatches after about five to ten minutes. Only equipped pets work; a new account can equip a single pet at first, and the +1 Pet Equip product (99 Robux) adds a slot. Effects seen: the Snail raises ant luck by about 7–9% and adds an earnings boost (shown as 12.5–14.4), the Spider boosts earnings and ant speed, the Mantis gives a 17.5% chance to double food, and the Ladybug raises food value by about 25% at first and around 50–60% once upgraded; a golden Ladybug is also the reward for a 14-day check-in streak.
Where do I get Pet Coins (pet tokens)?
Pet Coins come from dungeon runs. When the banner says a dungeon has appeared, enter it, press Start and let your ants fight the boss; each run pays coins, and you keep them even if you exit early or the timer runs out. Spend them at the Pet Exchange, where eggs cost 40 (Snail), 150 (Spider), 400 (Mantis) and 800 (Ladybug) coins. The Double Pet Coin product (499 Robux) doubles what each run pays. A stronger colony clears more rounds and earns more, so upgrading your ants also speeds up pet farming.
What does the Snail pet do?
The Snail adds ant luck and an earnings boost to your whole colony, and both grow as you level it with cash. Fresh snails showed +7% ant luck with an earnings boost of 12.5, and +9% with 14.3. The boost does not multiply sales 14 times, so treat the number as a percentage. Its menu has Patrol (let it roam your base), Stroke and Manage. You can also ride it like a mount without risking an ant. Get it from the Snail Egg (King of Snail dungeon, the Pet Exchange or 9 Robux); the egg hatches about five minutes after you place it at home.
What is the best pet?
It depends on what you need: the Snail adds ant luck (+7–9%) and an earnings boost, the Ladybug raises food value (about 25%, up to around 50–60% upgraded), the Spider speeds up your ants and the Mantis can double food.
How long does a pet egg take to hatch?
About five to ten minutes after you place it at your base.
