Build An Ant Empire - Skins

Buy skins from the Skins board at your plot. Unlike most cosmetics, these give real bonuses — tree skins in particular are cheap food multipliers you can buy with cash.

What are skins?

Skins change the look of your nest or food tree, and most add a bonus. Tree skins increase the food every ant brings back and are mostly bought with cash; nest skins such as Starfall Land add a cash bonus.

Nest skins

Nest skins change the look of your colony and some add a cash bonus. The Starter Ant Nest has no bonus. The Demonic Fortress (sold as the Demon Ant Nest Skin) costs 999 Robux, looks like Dracula's castle and adds +50% to +100% cash (the bonus may have changed between updates). Skins are equipped from the Skins board at your plot, so look there after buying one. The Starfall Land nest from the Starfall event adds 60% to your sell price.

Food tree skins

Tree skins replace the apple tree your ants eat from, and most add a food bonus. Unlike nest skins, most are bought with cash, which makes them one of the cheapest permanent multipliers in the game. They are easy to overlook, so check the board before spending Robux on income boosts.

Bonuses seen include Honey Flower (+30% food), Popcorn Bucket (+40% food, $48B), and the Ice Cream Apple Tree (+80% food). The Mushroom, Candy Cane and Cupcake trees are other options — the Cupcake tree has your ants eating kiwis and cupcakes — and the Harvest Apple Tree is a Robux skin. The top of the line is the Chocolate tree (Chocolate Cake), at +100% food for about $1Qi.

Which skin to buy

Buy the best tree skin you can afford whenever you have spare cash — it boosts every ant at once. For nests, the Starfall Land bonus is free with event progress; the Demonic Fortress is worth it only if you were going to spend Robux anyway.

What a tree skin is worth

Tree skin bonuses apply to every ant at once. If your colony makes 10B food per second, a +30% Honey Flower adds 3B per second, a +40% Popcorn Bucket adds 4B and a +80% Ice Cream Apple Tree adds 8B — permanently, for a one-off cash price. That is why they are worth buying as soon as you find them.

Frequently asked questions

Do nest skins change how many slots I have?
No. Nest skins change the look of the nest and can add a cash bonus; slots come from expanding the nest.
Can I switch skins later?
Yes. Owned skins can be equipped from the Skins board at any time.
Do tree skin bonuses stack with Food Gain?
Yes. A tree skin multiplies the food every ant brings back, on top of the Food Gain upgrade.
Where do I buy skins?
From the Skins board at your plot. Tree skins mostly cost cash; some nest skins cost Robux.
What is the best food tree skin?
The Chocolate tree, at the top of the tree upgrades, with +100% food; the Ice Cream Apple Tree (+80% food) comes just before it.
Does the Demonic Fortress give a bonus?
Yes — between +50% and +100% cash; the shown value has changed over time.
